These four men accused of stabbing Mozambican man Emmanuel Sithole to death on Saturday April 18th appeared in court today and were later remanded in prison. SA Police released their photo on Twitter. Check out the photo from the attack and see if it's the same men. See here and here

Former Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsi sentenced to 20 years in prison

 
An Egyptian criminal court in Cairo, Egypt's capital has sentenced former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to 20 years in prison over the killing of protesters in 2012. The former President's supporters attacked opposition protesters outside the presidential palace in December 2012, sparking clashes that killed at least 10 people.

With just weeks to the inauguration, the shape of the new cabinet is beginning to emerge. The position of the Secretary to the Federal Government is between Governor Amaechi and Chris Ngige. The FCT minister will likely go to Governor Fashola. Minister of Petroleum will like go to the man who said there is no subsidy and that Nigerians can buy fuel for as low as N50 per liter.

That man is Prof. David West, who has worked closely with Buhari before and remained loyal to him. In all, the government may be composed of Nigerians who are not only driven by the desire to restore the dream of the founding fathers but also share the modest lifestyle of Buhari.

Patience Jonathan, Orubebe, Others To Be Sanctioned by US

America is not ready to joke with trouble makers in Nigeria. First, it was the extradition of PDP Ogun central senator-elect Buruji Kashamu to the United States but gradually the flood light of the US seems to beam on wife of the President, Patience Jonathan and others who attempted to disrupt the just concluded elections or instigated violence against innocent Nigerians.

Along with Patience Jonathan, ex-Niger Delta minister, Godsday Orubebe and governor of Katsina state, Ibrahim Shema are going to be sanctioned by America.

The US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said in a statement that the US will shut its doors on people involved in any form of violence during the polls.

“Anyone found to have incited violence or interfered with electoral processes will be unwelcome in the United States and subject to visa sanctions,” Ms. Thomas-Greenfield said.

Man Trekking From Lagos Over Buhari’s Victory Arrives Abuja

It is was like a carnival in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday when hundreds of youths trooped out to welcome Suleiman Hashimu, now called ‘The Traveller,’ who pledged to walk from Lagos to Abuja if General Muhammadu Buhari won the 2015 presidential election.

Hashimu arrived in Abuja on Monday evening after trekking for about three weeks.

A native of Katsina State, Hashimu said he was in Lagos when Buhari was announced the president-elect of Nigeria, so he left Lagos at about 5am the next day and arrived in Ibadan around 6pm.
He told journalists on her arrival in Abuja that he had gone to get a police report at Ibadan to allow for an unimpeded journey, but that as he could not wait for the processes to be completed, the DPO gave him his phone number.

Xenophobia: 6,000 Nigerians will lose their jobs if MTN leaves Nigeria

     
MTN Nigeria says about 6,000 Nigerians will lose their jobs if MTN is made to leave Nigeria. Head of Communications MTN, Mr Wale Goodluck said this while reacting to calls by a protest group in Edo state yesterday that the telecommunications offices in Nigeria will be shut and their installations attacked if the xenophobic attacks in South Africa continues.

Mr Goodluck said there are only 12 expatriates working for the company in Nigeria compared to a workforce of 6,000 Nigerians. 

3year old girl kidnapped from Church in Surulere has been found in Ogun

  
Little Oluwabunmi Ajelerowho was kidnapped from her church, Surulere Baptist Church Lagos on Sunday April 19th has been found in Abeokuta, Ogun state. She was found yesterday April 20th and is now back safe with her family.
 
The girl was kidnapped by two men who rode on a motorcycle and pretended to be worshipers in the church. They lured the little girl with Gala as she played with her mates in the church compound while her parents were in the church worshiping. The kidnappers came into the church through the main entrance but made away with the little girl through the church's back gate.  

I will resume search for oil along the Lake Chad Basin - Buhari

  
President-elect, Gen Muhammadu Buhari says he will resume vigorous search for oil along the Chad Basin in parts of Borno State and other parts of the Northeast region once he is sworn in as President come May 29th. According to KSM news, Buhari said this while receiving Borno state Governor Kashim Shettima and Traditional Rulers and Elders from Borno state who came to Kaduna to pay him a congratulatory visit on Sunday April 19th. INEC Fix April 25 For Re-Run of Governorship Election in Imo, After the Results Were Declared Inconclusive

                            
 The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has fixed April 25 for re-run of the 2015 Governorship and some constituencies in the state House of Assembly elections in Imo. 
                       Dr Gabriel Ada, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Imo State, announced this at a news conference in Owerri on Wednesday, after INEC had declared the April 11 governorship polls in Imo inconclusive.
                        This followed the cancellation of elections in more than 250 polling units in 23 of the 27 local government areas. Ada explained that INEC ordered re-run for the governorship election because of the 79,000 difference between the votes scored by the leading and the second candidates.

Kidnapping is our family business, says arrested nanny

The nanny, who kidnapped three children in the Surulere area of Lagos State, has said her husband, Waheed Kareem, is the mastermind of the kidnap.
She added that Kareem was the head of a kidnap ring that involved some members of his family. It was gathered that Kareem escaped arrest.
The nanny, who adopted a pseudonym, Mary Akinloye, to deceive the Orekoyas, confessed that her actual name was Funmilayo Adeyemi, a 35-year-old indigene of Osun State.
PUNCH  had reported that the Orekoyas had posted on OLX, an online sales portal, saying they needed a nanny for their children.
The suspect was said to have contacted the family and was employed immediately.
Barely 24 hours after she was employed, the nanny abducted three children of the family – Aderomola (11 months), Adedamola (4 years) and Demola (6 years).
Our correspondent reported that N15m ransom was initially demanded from the family, which was later reduced to N13 after much appeal by the victims’ mother.
PUNCH reported that the family paid an undisclosed amount of money into the bank account of the kidnappers before the children were released on Tuesday.
On Thursday, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Kayode Aderanti, announced that the nanny had been arrested.

Described as “a new choice for Nigeria,”TIME’s Africa Bureau Chief, Aryn Baker, said Buhari made history in March by becoming the first candidate to oust a sitting Nigerian President through the ballot box.

Four smugglers excrete 171 wraps of cocaine

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has apprehended four suspected drug traffickers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos for attempting to smuggle cocaine to Brazil.
It was learnt that the suspects ─ Ejiofor Eliezer (46), Obah Francis (30), Akpa Sobuzochukwu (27) and 36-year-old Ike Okechukwu ─ excreted 171 wraps of drug that tested positive for cocaine.
PUNCH Metro report that the discovery was made during the screening of passengers on board Qatar and Emirates airlines.
Eliezer, who excreted 100 wraps of the drug, told investigators that poverty pushed him to commit the crime, adding that he had intended to use the expected proceed to fend for his family of four.

I’ll restore military ties with US –Buhari

The President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), on Tuesday said his administration would restore military cooperation with the United States of America.
In an article published by the New York Times in its Tuesday edition, Buhari promised to, among other things, reform the military.
President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration had cancelled the training component of its military cooperation with the US, citing a lack of sincerity on the part of the Americans for its decision.

Jonathan rejects amended constitution

President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected the amendments made to the 1999 Constitution by the National Assembly.
A top government official, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent on Tuesday that Jonathan vetoed the amendment on Monday.
The official said the decision of the President not to sign the document was because the amendment did not meet the provisions of Section 9 (3) of the 1999 Constitution.
The source explained that with the return of the document by the President, the letter accompanying it might be read on the floors of the two chambers of the National Assembly any time from Wednesday (today).
He said, “The President has vetoed the constitution amendment and he has sent it back to the National Assembly.

I Didn't Kill My My Husband,He Committed Suicide - Arrested Widow Of Award-Winning Pharmacist Cries Out

                                   
 Mrs Busayo Olafare, the widow of Paul Olafare, who allegedly committed suicide, weekend, in his Oworonsoki home in Lagos, has denied culpability in his husband’s death, saying he took poison. News of the death of the father of two filtered in Sunday. But there were different accounts on the circumstance that led to his demise.
                   A version of the account had it that he poisoned himself, following an unpaid loan he took to set up his own pharmacy.
It was also reported that late Olafare, who was awarded Lagos State Pharmacist of the Year 2013, had on several occasions attempted to take his life before Sunday. One of the foiled attempts, as gathered, was his intention to jump into the lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge.
