President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has received with dismay and consternation reports of yesterday’s attacks by Boko Haram on churches in villages near Chibok, Borno State.
The President deplores the renewed targeting by Boko Haram of adherents of a particular religion and urges all lovers of peace and unity to wholly condemn the resurgence of efforts by agents of global terrorism to disunite and destabilize Nigeria by callously instigating violence among religious groups in the country.
It appears APC has discovered the probllem: "Overconfidence was at the fore, based on performance, and there was no relationship with the voting population. Of course, you know that Nigeria is not yet attuned to the politics of development. People are eager for what will go into their stomach; the issue of stomach infrastructure was not addressed.”

“We have noted the alarm raised by the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Service Matters, Hon. Andrew Uchendu that the life of the Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has come under threat from the Federal Government and its agents. We condemn this reprehensible plot on the life of an innocent man whose only offence is that he is fighting for the rights of the people who elected him their Governor. Rt. Hon. Amaechi has not committed any crime deserving of death and we wish to warn that no such harm must come to him.”
But the bombshell occurs in Section 18, under the sub-heading “Mining Royalties and Rents”. It said, “There shall be paid by the Federation to each Federating Unit a sum equal to 50 per cent of (a) all proceeds of any royalty received by the Federation in respect of any mineral extracted in that Federating Unit (b) any mining rents by the federation during that year from within that federating unit.”
If we view the just-concluded election in Ekiti as a process, then we can confidently say that while the events of the voting day itself may have led many to believe that the election was free and fair, the same cannot be said of the events before, during and after the election...
