Jonathan Hits Gov Kwankwaso: You’re Desperate and A Failure

Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso used to be President Goodluck Jonathan's favourite man because of the number of voters he controls in Kano State. But since he dumped the PDP and swept off Jonathan's feet from his state things have not been the same, he is now called all sorts of names by the Presidency.

In what appears as President Jonathan’s response to Governor Kwankwaso’s allegation that the President is out to kill him, 2 ministers apparently acting on behalf of Jonathan blasted the governor in Abuja on Friday.

Separate statements issued by the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, and Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Abdul Jelili Adesiyan, described Kwankwaso as “being desperate and paranoid.”

Sex Workers Cashing in on the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil

Daily Mirror reports that around 4,000 girls are expected to be working in Rio’s Vila Mimosa offering football “specials” to fans from nations around the world. It was gathered that the English fans are among those being specifically targeted by sex workers in Brazil’s biggest red light district as the competition gets under way on Thursday, 12 June, 2014.

Some reports suggest some women have been initiated into the sex trade specifically for the Mundial as fans descend on the city from around the globe. Investigation carried out by different medial platforms indicate that the sex workers earn 60 Real – just €20 – for a half-hour of sex. It was also gathered that many of the prostitutes are convinced they can secure a passport to a better life with fans from other countries.

Sanusi moves into emir’s palace

Barely five hours after the police vacated the palace, the new emir, Sanusi, was led into his new home by a retinue of armed policemen, palace guards, friends and other well-wishers.

Sanusi stepped into the building for the first time since he emerged emir close to a week ago.

The new emir was earlier prevented from gaining entry into the palace by security officials who were allegedly acting on instructions from Abuja. The journey to the palace began from the Kano State Government House, Kano, by 3.30pm.

Sanusi drove into the palace in the official vehicles of the emirate via a newly constructed gate built in his honour in line with tradition.

He had led some of his subjects during Juma’at prayers at the state House where he admonished them to fear Allah and love one another.

The new emir also led other Muslims in late evening prayers inside the palace mosque after which dozens of his subjects watched in admiration as palace guards gave him traditional gun salute.

In his Friday sermon to the congregation, the new emir called on all Muslims to fear God in all their dealings.

Sanusi promised to be fair, just and transparent in the discharge of his responsibilities.

The new emir said that Allah gave power to whom he wanted and that he might not be the best among the candidates, but God had chosen him to lead.

Sanusi also appealed to Muslims to always return to God in time of difficulties for divine intervention.

The emir said “I urge Muslims to draw my attention to whatever wrong I have committed, for I know that to err is human, but to forgive is God.”

I Am In Contact With Boko Haram to Free The Girls ––Obasanjo

One man who is not only troubled about the fate of the over 200 girls kidnapped in Chibok by Boko Haram sect but also doing all in his power to ensure that the girls return home safe is President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The ex-President said on Thursday that he could reach out to the schoolgirls abducted in the insurgents camp, but he regretted that the Goodluck Jonathan Government had yet to give him the green light to act.

In the words of Obasanjo: “I have ways of reaching them(Boko Haram) but I have not been given the go ahead.  

“I believe that some of them will never return. We will still be hearing about them many years from now, some will give birth to children of the Boko Haram members, but if they cannot take care of them in the forest, they may release them.”

In an interview on Hausa Service of British Broadcasting Corporation monitored in Kaduna, he expressed worry that the girls might have been separated and kept in different locations to checkmate rescue plans.

Since the girls were kidnapped from their hostel in April, 2014, Obasanjo has been making frantic efforts to get them out and reunite them with their family. He held a meeting on the matter in his home recently and has thus go out of his way to convince the government to do the needful for the sake of the girls.

IBB warns Jonathan on Sanusi; Police Finally Vacate his Palace

Several powerful Northern leaders are angry that President Gooodluck Jonathan is attempting to undermine the position and office of the respected Emir of Kano currently being occupied by Sanusi Lamiso Sanusi and they are set for a serious showdown if the nonsense is not stopped.

Ex-Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd) has warned that the Presidency has absolutely no role to play in the picking and appointment of the Emir of Kano even as he said that it is the responsibility of the state government to appoint the Emir and Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has taken the action.

Warning that no harm must happen to Emir Sanusi, IBB said: "God made him the Emir and so I don’t see why people cannot come together and support who is the Emir in the interest of the state and for the interest of this country”.

Breaking News: Singer Kefee has passed on

Our Branama queen is gone. Kefee Obareki Don Momoh passed away this morning at the US hospital where she was taken to after she collapsed and went into coma. She never came out of the coma. Her international manager has confirmed her passing and Kefee’s husband also confirmed to a Star FM staff, where he works. RIP Kefee.

Teenage Girl Spying For Boko Haram Caught By Soldiers

Terrorism is a canker-worm and the longer it lasts, the deadly it becomes. That Special Forces of the Nigerian Army Unit in Gwoza, Borno State, have arrested a 13-year-old girl who is said to be spying on the military for the members of deadly Boko Haram to carry out their wicked operation.

A security source said the soldiers who picked up the girl were said to be stunned when they found an AK 47 assault rifle in the young girl's home. 

It was further gathered that the girl led the soldiers to three other girls who were also said to have been recruited by Boko Haram to spy on military formations.

Governor Fashola declares tomorrow June 12 public holiday

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, today June 11th approved Thursday, June 12, 2014 as public holiday in Lagos to commemorate the June 12 1993 presidential election that was won by Late Chief Moshood Abiola.

The approval was contained in a circular signed today by the Head of Service Lagos State, Mrs Oluseyi Williams. The circular reads in part;

“In commemoration of June 12, 1993 as significant in the actualization of Democracy in Nigeria, it is hereby notified for general information that His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, the Governor of Lagos State, has approved Thursday, 12th June, 2014 as a work free day.”

I'm sure Lagos state workers will be happy to hear this. Work will resume on Friday, June 13th.

Security Siege: Police Surround Emir Sanusi's Palace In Kano

Men of the Nigeria Police have surrounded the Palace of the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and it is said that the order to do so is from above. Also, policemen in the government house have been withdrawn.

There are conflicting reports that the policemen were there to prevent the new Emir from gaining entrance into his palace. Consequently, after Sanusi was sworn in at the Government House, he was not escorted to the Emir’s palace as was expected in accordance with the emirate tradition.

It was further gathered that there were plans to arrest the new emir and prevent him from moving to the emir’s palace The new Emir of Kano is now at Naseer House, a guest apartment at the Kano Government House.

Two Covenant university sisters abducted in Abuja

Two sisters, Ejura and Unekwu Opaluwah (pictured above) were kidnapped on Sunday June 8th by five armed men who stormed their home in Karmo, Abuja.

The Covenant University students were taken away in the booth of a blue Honda car with number plate, HR 152 ABC around 5.00 p.m.Sunday evening after the men robbed their home of valuables. A family member said the men then took the girls after they finished robbing the home, put them in the booth of their Honda and left with them.

The kidnappers later called demanding a N150million ransom for their release. The girl's dad is the procurement officer at the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs. Anyone with useful information should contact the nearest police station

Jonathan Impounds Amaechi’s Jet In Kano For Backing Sanusi As New Emir of Kano

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday night ordered Nigerian aviation authorities to prevent the jet carrying Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi from leaving the Kano International Airport.

The plane was grounded after security agencies decided APC leader Bola Tinubu, ex-governor Bukola Saraki, ex-governor Danjuma Goje and Governor Amaechi were instrumental to pressurizing the Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to ratify ex-CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as new Emir of Kano.

The Bombardier aircraft which was recently released to the governor could not leave the airport as aviation agencies claimed there was an order "from above" to stop flights out of the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano, leaving the governor and his aides no other option than to travel by road out of Kano at the risk of their lives...

APC Blasts Police Over Attack On Governor Fayemi In Ekiti

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has condemned in the strongest possible terms the unleashing of provocative violence and mayhem on the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and members of the APC in Ekiti State by the police, which resulted in the death of a member of the party.

The party equally lambasted the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, for attempting to justify this clear case of brigandage by the police on the members of the APC, warning that the party will resist every attempt by desperate politicians who have wasted the country's potentials to force themselves on Nigerians in 2015.

"The haste with which the hare brained PDP Publicity Secretary rushed to approve this brigandage and direct affront on the constitution of the land proves to all that the police was employed by the PDP to unleash violence on an Executive Governor of a state. We are in no doubt that this ranks as the way the PDP wants to employ to retain power when it had completely ran down the country and made the country an object of ridicule before the international community."
