Robbery suspects narrates how his brother recruited him into robbery

20-year-old Morgan Udama, a member of a 4-man robbery gang arrested yesterday August 4th by police officers attached to Okota Isolo Police Station in Lagos, while confessing, said he was recruited into criminal life by his own older brother, Oche, who is the leader of the robbery gang.

Morgan, a native of Oju in Benue State said he came into Lagos last week Monday July 28th to live with his brother who had promised him a better job which unknown to him was armed robbery

Insurgents belonging to the dreaded Islamist group, Boko Haram, have killed Captain Benjamin Sule, a Nigerian army officer who just wedded eight months ago.
A close military friend of the late Captain Sule told SaharaReporters that Boko Haram gunmen killed the young, newly wed officer in an attack on a military contingent over the weekend.

The mother of a 3year old boy identified as Timothy who was born without a penis has called on the Nigerian police to help her investigate and locate a woman identified as Blessing Usatu who she claims eloped with the N5million that was raised for surgery for her son.

Narrating what happened to journalist at the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, 38 year old Mrs Charity Atoe said after giving birth to her son and discovering that he had no penis, she was informed by the doctors at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital that a corrective surgery which would cost N900, 000 would have to be carried out in order for him to have a penis. The seven-member panel investigating allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Umaru Al-Makura has dismissed all the charges.The panel dismissed the charges after concluding its work and listening to the counsel to the Assembly on Tuesday morning.The State Assembly had on Monday declared the inauguration of the panel by the State Chief Judge, Suleiman Dikko, as unconstitutional saying it would stay away from the probe.But on Tuesday, the Assembly made a u-turn, and sent a legal team led by Ocha Ulegede to represent it before the panel.

Health Commissioner Jide Idris announced that Lagos now has eight suspected cases of Ebola. The infected all came into contact with Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian who died in the major city last month, becoming the country's first casualty.

The war between Israel and Palestine has entered Day 28 and what's happening there is sickening. Over half a million people in Gaza city have been rendered homeless with 270,000 crammed into 90 crowded UN shelters, some of which have had no running water and electricity. At least 1,700 Palestinians have been killed while 69 Israelis have been killed. Shelters full of children in Gaza have been bombed, medical supplies have run out, many hospitals damaged and medics are unable to go to work. Many UN facilities sheltering displayed Palestinians, especially women and children have been hit, killing so many little children in the city.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been going on for decades but this particular one started on July 17th after Gaza attacked Israel with rockets following failed peace negotiations. Israel replied with both air and ground invasion of Gaza City....and the world is just watching.

As the deadly Ebola epidemic continues to wreck havoc on West African countries, Lagos state government on Sunday stepped up its surveillance to ensure infected nationals of affected countries sneak into Nigeria.

Officials of Lagos Ministry of Health and the Federal Government visited the General Overseer of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Joshua seeking his cooperation in ensuring Ebola victims are not brought to his church for healing.

The SCOAN, a popular international church reputed for its claims of divine healing is a popular destination for sick people all over the world including the West African countries currently battling the Ebola epidemic...

One of the Nigerian doctors who treated Liberian Patrick Sawyer (pictured right) who died last week in Lagos of Ebola virus, has tested positive to the virus.

The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, revealed this today Monday August 4th and also said that eight people who had first degree contact with the Liberian have been quarantined and are under strict observation.

Now after attending to Sawyer, this doctor, unaware that he'd exposed himself to Ebola, would have gone home to give his wife a kiss and hugged his daughter/son. God help us. More details later...

19 year old Rilwan Ahmed (pictured above) did the most unthinkable thing, he killed his own brother. According to a report by Tribune, Rilwan took his 4 year old half-brother Waris Ahmed to an uncompleted building close to their residence at Oloko village in Ibadan, Oyo State, tied a piece of cloth across his face, making it difficult for him to breathe, then tied his legs, and left him there. A native doctor and suspected ritual killer arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State Police Command has said that he grinds human heads into powder as charm for ladies who are looking for choice husbands and big contracts.

Olasunkanmi Owolabi, a 43-year-old native of Oyo town, said the concoction is also used as cure for stubborn sores, mental illness, sickle cell anaemia and epilepsy. He also said had planned to establish a specialist native hospital if government gave him the approval. Continue...

The fear of Ebola is real, people are beginning to take extreme measures. Following the death of a Liberian man from deadly Ebola virus in the country, Ghana has banned flights from Nigeria and other West African countries. The Managing Director, Ghana Airport Company, Charles Asare, said it was part of elaborate emergency measures the authorities were implementing to prevent the virus from spreading into Ghana.

Also, restrictions have been imposed on the movement of Liberian refugees who are still at the Buduburam Refugee Camp in the country.

Newly-appointed Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, today assumed office, promising to intensify the fight against crime in Nigeria. He succeed Mohammed Abubakar as the new head of the Nigerian police. Mr. Abba becomes the 17th Nigerian Inspector General of Police.

Abubakar served as the head of the Nigerian police from January 25, 2012 to July 31, 2014 when he retired after spending 35 years in the police.

The new IGP, who is from Jigawa State, earned degrees in history and law. He has attended numerous management and security courses in Nigeria and beyond, including attending the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru near Jos, capital of Plateau State.

Police spokesman Frank Mba described the new police head as possessing “vast experience in criminal investigation, intelligence-led policing and crime-fighting operations,” adding that Mr. Abba had the requisite preparation to tackle Nigeria’s “present challenges of terrorism, insurgency and other violent crimes.”

Boko Haram razes churches, issues threat letter

No fewer than five churches in Kwajaffa, Tashan Alade and other communities in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno were on Wednesday set ablaze by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

Hawul, a predominantly Christian community in southern part of the state also shares local boundary with Garkida town of Adamawa state which came under attack by some group of insurgents last Sunday killing two soldiers and three civilians with the setting ablaze of Police station.

The prime suspect in the killing of 39 year old Lizzy Njideka Nzewe, Kelechi Williams, an indigene of Umorji, Anambra state, has been arrested in Cote D'Ivoire.

Kelechi, 33, is accused of strangling Mrs Nzewe to death at her Green Estate Amuwo Odofin resident in Lagos on Monday July 21st. She was until her death a manager at Edmark Nigeria limited, and was a divorced mother of 4. She was in a relationship with the killer as at the time of her murder.

Police claim Kelechi is a serial killer with a criminal past. He was formerly based in South Africa where he was declared wanted by the South African police after committing a series of crimes. He fled SA for Ghana where he lived until he met Mrs Nzewe and started shuttling between Ghana and Nigeria to spend time with his older lover.

According to reports, things between the lovebirds was going well until Kelechi proposed marriage to Mrs Njideka which she turned down. He decided then to kill her and steal from her. Continue...
