A Nigerian Home Office worker ‘married’ his own daughter to get her a British visa, The extraordinary scam was apparently executed by Jelili Adesanya while ministers turned a blind eye.
Mr Adesanya, 54, has lived here for more than 30 years and holds a British passport, but wanted his daughter, her husband and their four sons to join him from Nigeria.
He faked a wedding ceremony complete with a photograph of the happy ‘couple’ which helped fool immigration officials that his daughter, Karimotu Adenike, was really his wife.
Miss Adenike, who is in her mid-30s, was duly granted permission to live in the UK.
The pair are waiting for her to be granted a permanent right to remain before they undergo a quiet divorce and attempt to bring the rest of her family here.
It is expected she would try to remarry her real husband to get them all visas.
But despite being tipped off two years ago, the Home Office seems to have done nothing to stop the scam by one of their own workers.
Until recently, Mr Adesanya was employed as an occupational health nurse for the Home Office, working with immigration officials at Gatwick airport.

A student of Computer Science Department of University of Calabar name withheld almost lost his sight after a lecturer known as Chris Otu in the Department of Economics, University of Calabar stabbed him with his-car key during lecture hour.
According to an eye-witness Mr Otu was supposed to have a class with year 3 students of Computer Science Department by 10.am, today 21 Nov. but he failed to appear after keeping the students waiting for two hours, he later appeared by 12-noon.
David Mark shuts down National Assembly till November 25th
Senate President, David Mark has ordered the shut down of the National Assembly till Tuesday next week, November 25th, following yesterday chaos in which the Speaker of the House of Reps, Aminu Tambuwal, and other lawmakers were allegedly teargassed and prevented from entering the Assembly complex. Mark announced at the Senate plenary session. The IG of police has also been ordered to appear before the House to explain what happened today. Meanwhile the House of Reps have adjourned till December 3rd.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission confirmed the development on Thursday in Abuja, noting that the $1 increase in gas price to power plants would become effective on December 1. The regulated price of gas for 2014 was $1.8 per million British thermal unit.
The commission stated this during its presentation during a meeting with industry stakeholders on the bi-annual minor review of the Multi Year Tariff Order-2.
Aside from the price of gas, NERC stated that other factors being considered before undertaking the tariff review included inflation, foreign exchange rate and power generation capacity.
Man found dead, abandoned beside vehicle
There was confusion at the Ilasamaja bus stop along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway on Thursday when pedestrians found a middle-aged man stripped half-naked and lying dead beside his vehicle.
PUNCH report that the man, identified as Emmanuel Ochugbu, was found by pedestrians and motorists lying beside a Toyota Camry 2004 model, believed to be his vehicle, around 6am.
When our correspondent leanrt that 60-year-old Ochugbu lived at Taofik Street in the Aboru area of Lagos.

Eyewitnesses said the man who carried a bomb in his bag was waiting suspiciously to enter the Central Gombe motor park around 2:00pm. Vigilantes in the area accosted him when their suspicion heightened as he refused to open his black bag containing the bomb.
After he was hit with a stick, he detonated the bomb and was seriously injured in the process. The crowd immediately gathered around him doused him with gasoline and burnt the man to ashes.

Amaechi: a factor to determine who occupies Aso Rock in 2015
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, has been described as a strong factor in determining who occupies the Aso Presidential Villa after the 2015 elections. Some of our ‘honourable’ reps climbed over the gate on their flowing agbada. Teargas canisters were fired by the police to stop them from gaining access into the assembly complex, but it didn’t deter them. See video below;
