UTME Candidates Killed In Auto Crash


Two candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Saturday, lost their lives in a multiple road crash, involving a tipper, a Nissan car and a Peugeot J5 vehicle along Owo-Ikare road in Ondo State.
Eyewitnesses said two out of the vehicles were coming from Offa in Kwara State when the crash occurred.
The tipper was said to have overtaken the Peugeot J5 vehicle while trying to negotiate a bend before ramming into the Nissan car conveying the candidates.
Head of Operations of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ikare Akoko, Mr. Samuel Ibitoye, confirmed the death of the candidates.
According to him, three others sustained various degrees of injuries and were on admission at Ikare Specialist Hospital.
He added that the corpses of the two candidates were deposited at the hospital mortuary, adding that the deceased candidates could not be identified
