A member of All Progressives Congress (APC) in ward 9 Ilesa East, Osun state, Tolu Adeosun, was shot to death on 25 July, right in front of his house around Osun Ankara, in Ilesha.
Members of PDP and APC resorted to violence when a group of the PDP members reportedly embarked on destruction of Aregbesola’s bill boards and posters as they were conducting a door-to-door campaign in the area.
The incident occurred not long after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, moved his campaign train to Ilesa.
Prior to Omisore’s arrival, residents of the area said that his gang of miscreants and hoodlums, known as “IBK Boys” were moving around brandishing cutlasses and shooting sporadically.
They claimed that it was one of the stray bullets that allegedly hit Adeosun in the abdomen and he subsequently bled to death on the street. Only a day before his untimely death, Late Adeosun held a naming ceremony for his new born baby.
Immediately after discovering that Tolu had been hit by the bullet and died, the hoodlums were said to have quickly escaped from the area through the Osun Ankara Road and Express Road before the arrival of the policemen from Ayeso Police Station.
Meanwhile, Residents of Ilesa also allege that the “IBK Boys” have promised to continue to attack the supporters of the incumbent governor, as it is the hometown of the Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
The Osun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Mrs. Folasade Odoro, confirmed there was a clash in Ilesa. She said the police had commenced an investigation into the matter.
