The Kano State government have announced former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, as the new Emir of Kano State.
Sanusi Lamido- the first son of the marriage between late Emir Ado Bayero and his cousin- was born on 1st of April,1956
News emerged on the Kano State government twitter handle, followed by its formal announcement by the Secretary to the the State Government (SSG) Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi at the Government House.
Previous speculations on social media had named Sanusi Ado Bayero, son of the deceased Emir Alh. Ado Bayero, as the latter’s successor, but such report was immediately nullified by the Senior Special Assistant on Media, to Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Jafaar Jafaar, EXCLUSIVElY to Premium Time.
In 1990, Lamido Sanusi was turbaned as Danruwata by the Madakin Kano Umaru and later elevated to Tafida, Sarkin Dawakin Tsakar Gida, and most recently Chiroma.
Sanusi possesses Diploma in Law from the Institute of Administration Kongo, Zaria, from 1977 – 1979 before attaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Law; 1979 -1983 from the same institution.
He also earned his Diploma in French language from Ecole International De La Langue Francoise, Paris in 1976-1979.
The 58-year-old once served as counsel to the Ministry of Justice, Gidan Murtala 1985-1987 after which he became legal Adviser and Company Secretary Kano
He was Director General Kano State Council of Chiefs from 1991-1993 and DG Special Duties Kano State Government from 1993-1996.
A former Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Information, youth and Culture 1996-2000 and Chairman City Walls and Gates which he took over in 1995.
